Meet Julie

Hi Julie, what’s your job role?
J: Head of Design

And what did you want to be when you grew up?
J: I wanted to be an interior designer. I absolutely loved watching TV programmes like Changing Rooms and Ground Force.

But, once I found out about Graphic Design and how I could combine my love of photography, art and design – I knew it was what I wanted to do.

Sounds perfect for you. What does the Head of Design do at Punch?
J: Developing and managing Punch’s design team, leading on the creative output of the agency.

What do you love the most about your job?
J: I love conceptualising ideas and playing around with brand assets to create something new, that looks brilliant but also meets the brief.

That seems like it would be really creatively satisfying. What’s the thing you’re known best for at Punch?
J: My passion is for branding and campaigns. I love bringing brands to life and giving them personality. Sharing ideas and collaborating gets me excited because you never know how inspirational a tiny spark of an idea can be, or where it can go!

What’s been your favourite Punch project to work on?
J: My most memorable project has got to be when I art directed and project managed two national TV ads for PerfectHome.

It was amazing to be a part of. The execution was just as fun as seeing the stats skyrocket. In the week the advert aired, they recorded their biggest rate of visits to their website – over 90,000!

Congratulations, that’s a huge achievement! Time to get nosy now. What would you say is your favourite place?
J: My favourite place would be the Algarve, the coastline is stunning and the food is incredible. I sat on a beach with a cocktail watching the sunset – it was bliss!

Ooh, sounds like a dream destination! Next up, if you were going to be an animal, what would you be?
J: I would probably say a lioness, I’m protective, motherly and have a fierce side.

I can for sure see that. Outside of work, what’s your lifestyle like?
J: I am the self-proclaimed Queen of picnics, and I’m like a moth to a flame when it comes to a cafe or a gift shop!

I love a stroll around a stately home or gardens with family and friends but, mostly, snuggling up with my daughter to watch our favourite film – Matilda!

That’s so sweet. Do you have a saying you love to live by?
J: “What will be, will be.”

I also believe that life is like a magnet, so I also love: “Your mind is a magnet. You don’t attract what you want, you attract who you are.”
