Meet Sophie, our Marketing Exec!

We love introducing the people that make the magic happen at our agency! The Punch Bunch are a fantastic lot, not only do they smash it at their jobs, but they have some right tales to tell. This time, we caught up with Marketing Exec, Sophie! Read on to see what she had to say…

What’s your favourite thing about working at Punch?

Definitely the people. We are such a close-knit team and everyone works together so well, especially when it comes to fully integrated campaigns! We also have cracking work nights out…just don’t ask anyone about what happened at the last one (haha!). We also have some great clients, and I get to be involved in some really fun campaigns, like our recent ‘What is Scampi’ campaign for Whitby Seafoods!

Name your favourite campaign from the last 12 months

Where do I begin?! I really love how cheeky certain brands have gotten in the past year, think Greggs and KFC, with unapologetic social and PR campaigns. I know everyone says it, but KFC’s marketing team has shown the world what marketing is about, and how it should be done. My personal fave is the ‘Chicken Pretenders’ campaign, which makes light of the companies that copy the fast-food giant’s name. Probably something which every Brit has noticed, but the way in which it’s addressed is so clever.

Tell us something most people don’t know about you

To be honest, I’m not that interesting (sad right?) so I had to rack my brains for this question. I’m a massive fan of rap music, think Notorious B.I.G, Kanye West and Eminem. I know all the words to ‘American Boy’ by Kanye West & Estelle, and ‘Lose Yourself’ by Eminem – my special skill, especially after a couple of drinks.

What do you think the future of marketing looks like?

Does anyone know? Everyone tries to predict what’s next, but the truth is, none of us really know. I definitely think the rise of tongue in cheek campaigns will continue, with more brands getting sassy, especially on social media, in hopes of creating some noise and going viral. The future is digital, and I think we will continue to see the decline in traditional marketing methods, such as print media. But who knows? I could be completely wrong.

Favourite biscuit to have with a brew?

For dunking, 100% has to be a Chocolate Hobnob, no argument. I do also love a classic Custard Cream.
