Meet Jess, our new Web Developer!

We recently welcomed a new Web Developer to our Leeds digital agency. Say hello to Jess! We caught up with her to learn more about her outlook on the marketing landscape, favourite campaign and most importantly…what biscuit she has with a brew!

What’s your favourite thing about Punch?

My favourite thing so far is the variety of accounts and work. In my first 3 weeks alone, I’ve got stuck into all sorts, from web design and development to graphics work. It’s really nice to have such a range of work to do and not be stuck on one thing for an extended period of time. I’ve had proper guided training and support from my team, which is always nice when you start at a new company.

Name your favourite campaign from the last 12 months.

It has to be when Greggs did their ‘Vegan Sausage Roll’ launch. My favourite thing was all the banter on Twitter. Greggs has been smashing it with their social media strategy for the past couple of years, and continue to evolve with the marketing landscape, which means their content is always spot on. This year, tongue in cheek marketing has really taken off and the way Greggs have used this in their campaigns is hilarious – I can’t wait to see more stuff from them.

Tell us something most people don’t know about you.

I absolutely love music videos! Music has always been a big part of my life, back in college I undertook an animation project, and it seemed only right that I made music a key theme. In the end, it turned out to be too ambitious for a first-time animator – who only had a week and a half to create it – but my passion for music videos has stuck around ever since!

What do you think the future of marketing (or web design) looks like?

It really feels like the age of non-digital marketing is coming to an end. Print marketing is still around, for example, you might pass a billboard every once in a while, but the marketing world has become a lot more digital. Re-targeted ads are huge now, which use your search history to display you with more relevant ads. For example, have you ever been browsing on a website, and then gone onto Facebook and seen an ad for the product you were just looking at? That’s retargeting for you!

Favourite biscuit to have with a brew?

Has to be a custard cream. Did you know if you dunk it using chopsticks you get a fantastic tea: biscuit ratio and you don’t burn your fingertips – genius right?
