Google + was launched june 28th 2011 by invitation only as a testing phase. This invitation stage were soon suspended due to high interest for new accounts. On September 20th 2011, Google + was officially opened to the general public without the need for an invitation.
Since it’s launch google + has over 90 million user and is expected to reach over 400 million users.
